Wanderlust Galaxy Art

About Resin Play

Founded by Elaine Tan, Resin Play is a place to share her joy and satisfaction of working with resin. With close to 8 years of experience in working with resins, Elaine has accumulated a wealth of knowledge in resin and jewellery making that she is happy to share and pass on through her workshops.

Having spent many years sourcing and experimenting with different brands of resins and mould-making supplies, Elaine has personally selected the very best of them and made them readily available at Resin Play. Understanding how difficult it is to get good quality materials locally, she continuously strives to ensure that students and artists alike can get their hands on only what works, without having to spend unnecessary time and money on trial and error.

The brands that we carry – Amado GudekAlfie De Meow and Analog Cufflinks – are the brainchildren of Elaine.

About the workshop

Calling all typography or calligraphy enthusiasts!

This month, Resin Play is collaborating with Dottieshop for a limited edition workshop that unites the techniques of faux calligraphy and alcohol ink art.

Participants will learn to apply both techniques on an A5 acrylic sheet to create a truly unique piece of artwork. A handcrafted wooden stand (as pictured) is included to hold and display your masterpiece.

All materials will be provided and participants will take home the font templates, their acrylic artwork, the wooden stand and a surprise gift from Dottieshop!

Part 1 (2 hours)

Dorothea from Dottieshop will teach you the art of faux calligraphy and putting various font types together on acrylic. Practice sheets and font templates will be provided. Participants will ink their copy onto their acrylic sheets.

Part 2 (1.5 hours)

We will show you have to create galaxy effects with alcohol inks, as well as basic resin mixing and sealing techniques. Participants will create their own galaxy background with a variety of alcohol inks – they are also welcome to explore creating other types of backgrounds if they do not desire a galaxy (but who could resist a galaxy!).

All participants can enjoy 10% off resin and mould supplies on the day of the workshop.

We use certified non-toxic, non-hazardous resin in our workshop, which is safe to use for kids too. However, if you are known to be allergic to resin of any form, we do not recommend you to join the workshop. Participants must follow our safety instructions to avoid any harm. We will not be liable for any damages or allergy reactions caused during the workshop.

Artwork Collection

It takes minimally 5 hours for the resin to cure. Participants may pick up their artworks from our studio during our store opening hours once their artworks have fully cured. There will be a break for lunch from 1.30pm–2.30pm.
